The Stereo 70s taps into the resurgence of traditional two-channel audio, and even as a fervent multichannel enthusiast, I find its appeal understandable. Offering the simplicity of a soundbar setup combined with the sophisticated switching of an 8K AV amplifier, this receiver presents a refreshingly innovative approach to home theater. It's designed for individuals who prefer a straightforward setup, aren't impressed by multiple speakers, and prioritize music enjoyment over films and TV.
Despite its simplicity, the Stereo 70s doesn't compromise on video capabilities. It boasts six HDMI inputs at the back, alongside one output. The panel includes equal numbers of 4K120Hz and 8K inputs, as well as standard 4K60Hz ports.
Similar to its Cinema 70s counterpart, the Stereo 70s can upscale 1080p content to 4K and up to 4,320p if paired with an 8K display, and it supports HDR passthrough for formats such as Dolby Vision and HDR10.
Gaming features are also built-in, including ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and QFT (Quick Frame Transport), making it well-suited for next-gen consoles.
For audio connections, the Stereo 70s includes three assignable analog stereo inputs, a phono input for turntables with MM cartridges, two USB ports—one for media playback and another for power to a streaming stick—and two digital audio inputs (coaxial and optical).
It also features Zone 2 pre-outs, dual subwoofer outputs, FM/AM radio, WiFi, and Bluetooth support via screw-in antennas, with an Ethernet port for wired networking.
